Monica Sharma Dogra aka Monica Dogra is an American singer and actress. She is also known for her appearance in the movies like Dhobi Ghat (2010) David(2013) Teraa Suroor (2016).

Biography
Monica was born on 25 October 1982 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Her parents hailed from Jammu, India. Later, they shifted to the United States. Monica follows the Dogra folk singer tradition. She was admitted to School at an early age. She attended the Oakleigh Elementary school, Parkville, MD, USA. Later, she was admitted to Dulaney High school to complete her intermediate schooling. After that, she went to New York University. She graduated in Musical theatre.

At the outset of her career she decided to form a rock band along with the guitarist Randol Correia. They named the band Shaa’ir And Func( also known as “StF”). They collaborated on a music album New day: The love Album. . Then again in 2008 they were seen in Light Tribe and Mantis was made in 2010. In the same year, she lent her voice to the song “Dooriyan Bhi Hai zaroori” with the music composer Vishal Dadlani for the film Break Ke Baad. In 2013 she sang the theme song of the movie Inkaar.

Monica debuted in the Indian Film Industry with her guest appearance in the film Rock On, a musical drama film (2008). In 2008 an Indian film producer Kiran Rao approached her for the lead role in her movie Dhobi Ghat. Initially, she refused but eventually, she accepted Rao’s proposal and signed the contract for acting in the Rao-directed movie Dhobi Ghat. She also went to the music contest Rolling stones Never Hide Sounds in 2011. In 2013 she got the chance of performing with the award-winning French violinist Scott Tixier. In 2014, she achieved the status of a celebrity when she started to get featured in popular Film Magazines. Moreover, her appearance in The Maxim India Magazine literally established her as a diva in the entertainment as well as in the music industry. She also appeared in Ekta Kapoor’s action drama web –series Cartel.
