Sachin Pilgaonkar or mononymously Sachin is an Indian actor, singer, director, and producer.

Biography:
Sachin Pilgaonkar was born on 17th August 1957 in Mumbai, India. He belongs to a Saraswat Brahmin family which is actually arrived from Goa, India. His father Sharad Pilgaonkar owned a printing business in Mumbai. Besides being a printing business owner, he was a film producer.
Sachin completed his School education at St.Joseph Boys’ High School, Khadki, Pune. Later, he graduated from PUMBA (Department of Management Sciences). He holds an MBA degree. In the year 1984, he directed ‘ Navri Mile Navryala’ where he met Supriya Sabnis. Eventually, his meeting with Supriya culminated in his marriage with her. After that, they became a successful pair in Marathi Cinemas. They have a daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar.
Sachin Pilgaonkar Movies:
Sachin worked as a child artist in more than 65 films. His first film as a child artist was ‘ Majha Marg Ekla’ (1962). He was given National Award for his role in the movie. The then president of India Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan handed him the prize. Moreover, he was barely 5 years old when he first stepped into the giant silver screen. In Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Majhli Didi’ (1967)[Dharmendra and Meena Kumari starrer] Sachin made his first appearance on the Bollywood Silver screen.
As a mature adult actor he gifted films like ‘ Geet Gaata Chaal’ (1975), ‘Balika Badhu ‘ (1976), ‘ Akhiyon ke Jharokhon Se’ (1978), and ‘ Nadiya Ke Paar’ (1982).
His pied roles in movies like ‘ Jewel Thief ‘, Chanda Aur Bijli ‘ ‘Brahmachari’ and ‘Mela’ are praiseworthy. After that, he started to become popular all over the country. Finally, Sachin turned into a household name in India. Moreover, Sachin’s outstanding performance as a leading character in Rajshri Productions’ ‘Geet Gata Chal’ opposite Sarika established him as a seasoned actor. Sachin and Sarika emerged as successful pairs in Hindi film Industry. They worked together in movies like ‘ Balika Badhu ‘ (1976), ‘ College Girl’ (1978), and ‘ Nadiya Ke Paar’ (1982).
Meanwhile, he manifested interest in playing supporting roles in the movies. His unforgettable roles as a supporting character in movies like ‘Trishul’, ‘ Sholay’, ‘Avtaar’, ‘ Sur Sangam ‘ and ‘ Satte Pe Satta’ have imprinted upon the mind of the people. His role as Ahmed in the cult classic movie Sholay deserves special mention.
T.V. Serial:
As an actor, Sachin is equally successful both in Marathi and Hindi Cinemas but with the passage of time the demand for roles on the big screens started to decline. Hence, he started directing films and acting in TV serials. In the year 1992, he directed ‘ Prem Deewane’ and later in the year 1996 the film ‘Aisi Bhi Kaya Jaldi Hai’ was made under his direction. Again in 2011, he directed ‘ Jaana Pehchana’, a sequel to the movie ‘ Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se’. Thereafter, in 2018 he directed ‘Ashi Hi Ashiqui’ which was produced by his wife.
Sachin also hosted a reality TV show ‘ Chalti Ka Naam Antakshri’. In 2006 he participated in ‘ Naach Baliye ‘ (a reality show on Star Plus) with his wife and became the winner.
A versatile Sachin Pilgaonkar wrote his autobiography titled ‘ Hach Maza Marg’ in 2017. In the same year, he wrote a ghazal –“Baadal Jo Ghir Aaya” for the Marathi Movie ‘Ti Ani Titar’.
