She was born on 12 February 2007 in Mumbai, India. She is now about 16 years old (As of 2023). Her father, Farhan Akhtar, is a renowned actor cum singer in India. Her mother Adhuna Bhabani is a hairstylist by profession.
In addition to this, she is the founder of a hair salon called BBlunt. Her grandfather Javed Akhtar is a famous Indian lyricist and poet. Honey Irani is her grandmother. Zoya Akhtar who is a famous Indian film director is her aunt.
She has an elder sister named Shakya Akhtar. On 24th April 2017, when Akira was just 10 years old, her parents got separated due to some unknown reasons.
After their legal divorce, Adhuna Bhabani got custody of her two children. Later, her father Farhan Akhtar got engaged in a relationship with the actress Shibani Dandekar and married her.
