Biography

She belongs to a Hindu Marathi family. She is the daughter of the famous actor Sachin Pilgaonkar . She is the one and only daughter of the veteran actor. Shriya’s early education was completed in a renowned local school. Then she took admission to St. Xavier College in Mumbai to pursue her graduate degree in sociology. She is a graduate in sociology. She desired to become a professional swimmer since her childhood. Above all she is a  trained Kathak dancer. since her early childhood, she had a curiosity to know the world. As a result, she learned a number of languages. Japanese is one of them. It was her belief that she would become a multi-linguist and would work as a translator. But eventually, she ended up in the Entertainment Industry.

Just at the age of five she made her first appearance in the Hindi serial Tu Tu Main Main. There she had the role of a  boy named Bittu to play. At that time she was fully unaware of the fact that she would become a big name in the Entertainment Industry in near future. Later, when she was old enough to choose her career, she expressed her wish to become a translator. But her fate was predestined and in time she entered the Entertainment industry. Needless to say, she is in versatile in nature. In 2012, she staged a short play called Freedom of Love, directed by Karan Shetty, and fascinated the spectators with her charming acting skills.

The love she received from the spectators haunted her and she was charged from within and decided to enter the film’s world. In 2013, she debuted in the Marathi Film industry with the film Ekutti Ek .

In this film, she appeared with her own parents. She played the role of Swara, the daughter of Arun Despande. Her father Sachin Pilgaonkar was Arun and her mother Supriya played the role of Nandini,  the mother of Swara. In short, Shriya’s family collaboratively portrayed the lead roles in this Marathi movie.

This movie was also directed and produced by her father Sachin Pilgaonkar. So, it would be wrong to say that she debuted in her father’s film. She received five awards for this movie. Maharashtra State Government Award for the Best Debutante actress was one of them. TOI (Times of India) rated the film 3/5 stars stating that she did not disappoint the audience. After the success, a veteran theatre actor Aakash Khurana approached her to stage International Affairs and Common people. Thereafter, she had the opportunity to act in a French Movie entitled Un Plus Une which was directed by the Oscar-winning director Claude Lelouch. In the movie, she played the role of Ayanna.

In 2016 She debuted in Bollywood with the Sharukh Khan starrer movie Fan . The film was written and directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. To speak the truth, she got the chance in the movie out of 750 girls who auditioned to Maneesh Sharma.

In the movie, she played the role of Neha, a call center girl. After that, she , along with her mother Supriya, appeared in a movie entitled Jai Mata Di. Later in 2018, she started to appear in Amazon Prime India Show Mirzapur where she played the role of Sweety Gupta. Again she appeared in a TV Show called 13 Mussorie in the same year. Next, in 2019, she showed up in a Comedy Hindi movie named House Arrest.

The movie catered a great deal of mirth and laughter to the audience. Samit Basu and Shashanka Ghosh directed the movie whereas Netflix distributed it. Ever since she became a popular face across the country.

In 2020 she appeared in two Voot Web series The Gone Game & Crackdown. After that, she showed up again in the .movie Bhangra Paa le in the same year. Next, in 2022 she appeared in movies like Abhi To Party Suru Hui Hai, Haathi Mere Sathi. Besides being a skilled actress, she is also successful as a director &producer of movies. She pursued a diploma in Acting from Film and Television Institute, Pune. Next, she went to the US for a Summer Course in Screenplay Adaptation at Harvard University. This led her to direct short films like Painted Signal. Then, she directed a documentary film Panchgavya in collaboration with Hara Kitasei. Apart from all these, she co-directed a short film entitled Dresswala with Siddharth Joglekar. This short film was nominated at the Mumbai Film Festival in 2012.
