Sanjay Surinder Kapoor is an Indian actor who came to the limelight after playing a role in the Bollywood movie entitled Raja. He is also known for his role in the Television Serial Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara aired on Star Plus. He founded Sanjay Kapoor Entertainment Pvt. Ltd Company. He is also a producer.

Sanjay Kapoor was born on 17th October 1965 in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India. Famous film producer Surinder Kapoor was his father and Nirmal Kapoor was his mother. His family tree spreads extensively. He has three brothers and sisters; Bony Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Reena Marwah. Arjun Kapoor, Mohit Kapoor, and Harshavardhan are his nephews whereas Sonam Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Rhea Kapoor, the film producer are his nieces. Apart from all these, he has many other relatives in his Kapoor family. He completed his schooling at a local school in his hometown. After that,he graduated from the University of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Having been brought up in a filmy background, he entered the glamour world at ease.

Sanjay Kapoor stepped first into the film industry in 1995. He debuted in Bollywood with the movie Prem opposite newcomer Tabu. The two debutants portrayed the fictional characters very well. The movie was released after an intolerable delay.
The movie was scheduled to be released in 1989 but in 1995 it was finally released. Despite having all such problems the movie was a box office hit. In the movie hallucination of a past life was depicted.
Sanjay played the double role of Shantanu and Sanju, on the other hand, Tabu played the double role of Lachi, Sonya Jaitley. His next appearance was in the movie Raja(1995). The female counterpart of the movie was the gorgeous Madhuri Dixit. Raja was a box office hit movie. The songs in the movie are also remarkable. Sanjay portrayed the character of Raja Patangwala and Madhuri Dixit was there as Madhu Garewal.
He became a celebrity after this movie. Next in 1996, he appeared in the movie Beqabu appearing in the role of Raja Verma. After that, he got many projects in 1997: Mohabbat, Auzaar, Zameer: The Awakening of a Soul, Mere Sapno Ki Rani. But eventually he failed to impress the audience. Most of the movies were unsuccessful.
Up next, he showed up in Mohabbat which was a romantic movie directed by Reema Nath. The female lead role was of the stunning actress Madhuri Dixit. Sanjay Kapoor played the role of Gaurav M. Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit played the role of Shweta Sharma.
Auzaar was an action thriller movie where he portrayed the role of Yash Thakur. Shilpa Shetty was on her opposite.(Prathna Thakur, Yash’s wife).
The film was directed by Sohail Khan. The other actors were Salman Khan, Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, etc. In the movie Zameer: The Awakening of a Soul, Sanjay played the role of a Mumbai-based thief Kishan who was absconded and took refuge in a secret place.
Shilpa Shetty led the female role in the movie. In this year, he appeared in another film named Mere Sapno Ki Rani. It was directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by Allu Arvind, the father of the Puspa star Allu Arjun and C. Ashwini Dutt. In 1999 he showed up with Priya Gill in the movie Sirf Tum.
It was a remake of the Tamil movie Prema Lekha, directed by the same director Agathiyan. In 2001 he acted in Aziz Sejawal-directed romantic thriller Chhupa Rustom: A Musical Thriller. In 2002 he played the double role in the movie Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe.
It was a remake of the Telugu movie Pelli(1997). Then he shared the screen with Raveena Tandon and Arbaaz Khan in the movie Soch (2002). It was based on Alfred Hitchcock’s Hollywood movie Strangers on a Train. The Hindi remake was directed by Sushan Bhatnagar.
In the same year, he acted in Shakti: The Power, a Hindi action thriller. Then in 2003, he was seen acting in many other movies like Qayamat, City Under Threat (in a supporting role) Darna Mana Hai( a horror anthology).

He had a special appearance in the movie Kal Ho Na Ho(2003).He played the role of Abhay Malhotra. In this year he also acted in the historical movie LOC:Kargil. The film was produced and directed by J.P.Dutta.The movie came under the banner of ‘J.P.Films.’The story was based on the Kargil war fought between India and Pakistan. There he played the role of Major Deepak Rampal, 17 JAT. In 2004, he appeared in the movie Jaago where he played the role of Shrikant. In the same year he acted in Julie. In 2005 he acted in AnJanne – The Unknown. There he played the role of Aditya Malhotra. Besides appearing in films he acted in Television Serials too. From 2003 he started to appear in TV serials. Karishma – The Miracles of Destiny (2003-04)was his debut serial. There he played the role of Amar. Next, he appeared after a long time gap. In 2017 he acted in Dil Sambhal Ja Zara as a lead actor. In 2020 he acted in Fashion Street, The Gone Game. The Gone Game is a series in OTT platform Voot Miniseries. In 2021 he played the role of DCP Arup Singh in the Amazon Prime series The Last Hour. Last but not the least he acted in The Fame Game, a Netflix series (2022).
