Lionel Messi, the legendary footballer, was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina. His father Jorge Messi was a steel Factory Manager. His mother Maria Cuccittini worked as a part-time cleaner.

Lionel Messi Retirement:
The year (2010-11) ended with Messi’s 53 goals in all competitions combined. Thereafter, in a UEFA Champions League match, he scored 5 goals. In 2012, he became the highest goal scorer (91 goals) for Barcelona. Barcelona renewed its contract with this supremely outstanding footballer until 2018. Messi’s injuries hindered his further progress but he pulled around in 2014 and began to play for his team. His hat trick against Sevilla in November made him the all-time top scorer in La Liga. 2015 was Messi another amazing season. The entire team scored 122 goals out of which 41 goals were scored by Messi alone. On 26th June 2016, Argentina lost to Chile in the Copa America Centenario and as a result, a heartbroken Messi announced his retirement. After that, a massive campaign all around the globe urged him to reverse his decision. Finally, Messi’s heart melted and he promised his fans that he would be a part of the Argentinean team in the world cup of 2018.
