Narsingh Yadav elected chairman of WFI's Athletes Commission

Former wrestler Narsingh Yadav was elected the chairman of the Wrestling Federation of India’s Athletes’ Fee in Varanasi on Wednesday as mandated by the United Globe Wrestling (UWW), the worldwide governing human body for wrestling.

In the elections, done on the ballot paper, seven customers out of eight received elected. The elected members then selected Narsingh as chairman of the commission.

Narsingh, Commonwealth Game titles and Asian Championships gold medallist, hit the headlines when two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar asked for a trial bout in opposition to him following he missed the qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics owing to an injuries.

Sushil moved the Delhi Significant Court docket but the court rejected his appeal.

The UWW, when lifting the WFI ban in February 2024, urged the Sanjay Singh-led federation to constitute an athletes’ commission before July 1 to take care of the grievances of the grapplers.
