Long jumper Murali Sreeshankar pulls out of Paris Olympics

Long jumper Murali Sreeshankar, who was ruled out of the Paris Olympics due to a remaining knee injury past 7 days, has gone through surgical procedure in Doha on Wednesday.

French orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Olory carried out the surgical procedure.

Sreeshankar is an Asian and Commonwealth Video games silver medallist.

“The surgical procedure was prosperous beneath Dr. Bruno Olory at the Aspetar Hospital, Doha. Thank you anyone for all your appreciate and blessings during this rough phase. 18 hours put up surgery and I am presently going for walks,” wrote Sreeshankar on Instagram.

Sreeshankar experienced endured the knee damage throughout a education session in Palakkad previously this month.

He had certified for the Paris Olympics, scheduled for July-August, in July 2023 when he received a silver medal at the Asian Championships in Bangkok with a leap of 8.37m, crossing the Olympic qualifying mark by .10m.

The road is likely to be extensive, tricky and will take a whole lot out of me,” Sreeshankar had mentioned whilst saying his withdrawal from the Olympics.

Sreeshankar was the only Indian athlete to qualify for the lengthy leap competitors in the forthcoming Paris Olympics.
