Anup Jalota is an Indian devotional singer, who is mainly known for Bhajans and Ghazals. He is also a musician and an actor. He appeared in many English, Bengali, and Gujarati films.

He was born on 29th July 1953 in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India. His Father’s name is Purushottam Das Jalota who was a famous singer in the genre of Bhajan.

He spent his early childhood in Suvarkundla with his two younger brothers, Anil Jalota & Ajay Jalota, and two sisters, Anjali Dhir & Anita Mehra.

He completed his training in classical singing at Bhatkhande Music Institute Deemed University, Lucknow.

At the age of 7, under the mentorship of his father, Jalota began his singing career as a chorus singer on All India Radio. From 2002-to 2005, he presented the program” Dharam Aur Hum “, broadcasted on Star Plus. In 2004, he sang” Jai Bholenath” & “Jai Mahadev”.

After meeting with Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji in Mumbai, he released the title song “Golden Memorable Yaadein” in 2008. It was under the CD ” Noorani Chehra” to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Aga Khan.

In the next year, his song “Sindhur Lal Chadhaye” was released on the album “Shri Siddhivinayak Aarti”. After two years,   Anup in collaboration with Sanghamitra Bharali lent his voice to many songs including” Mata Ki Aarti”, “Tarse Naina Barse Naina”, and “Rat Jagraate Ki Hai”.The Album was  “Mata ka Jagrata”

After 5 years ,in 2016, he sang “Sankatmochan Naam Tiharo” in the Album “Bhajan Sangraha – Lord Hanuman”. In the same year, under the album “Bhajan Sandhya,vol-16″, he sharpened his magical voice with ” Suraj ki Garmi Se”.

Besides, that year, he released two other songs ” Mukund Madhav Govind Bol” & “Govind Bolo Hari Gopal “under the albums “Krishna Janmashtami Aayo Re- Best of Lord Krishna Songs 2016″ &” 51 Essentials Krishna Best of Aarti” respectively.

In addition, he also marked his presence with the songs including “Tere Man Mein Raam”, “Rukh Se Parda Hata De”, “Lu Pila De Saqiya”, and “Prabhuji Tum Chandan Hum Pani” etc.

In 2018, he participated in “Bigg Boss 12” as a contestant. He stayed there for up to 42 days. Up next,in 2020, he also actively took part in “Paatal Lok” in the role of Balkrishan Bajpaee. Even, in 2021, he portrayed the lead role of Sathya Sai Baba in the film “Satya Sai Baba”.

At first, Jalota married his music student Sonali Sheth. Later, She became a popular singer. They become famous on North Indian live performance circuit “Anup And Sonali Jalota “. But after their separation, it got disbanded. Afterward, he married another girl, Bina Bhatia for the second time.

This marriage also ended in divorce. Finally, he engaged in a marital relationship with Medha Gujral who was the niece of the former Prime Minister of India, I.K. Gujral.

Her other identity was that she was the first wife of the director Shekhar Kapur who divorced her in 1994. This couple was blessed with a son named Aryaman in 1996. Medha passed away on 25^th  November 2014 in New York City due to renal failure.
