Anne Jacqueline Hathaway was born on 12 November 1982 in Brooklyn, Newyork, USA. She is now about 40 years old ( as of 2022). Her father Gerald Hathaway is a labor attorney whereas her mother Kate is a former actress. She is named Anne Hathaway by her parents after William Shakespeare’s wife.
Anne’s maternal grandfather Joe McCauley was a WIP AM Philadelphia radio personality. Again Anne’s mother belongs to Irish descent whereas her father hails from Irish, French, and English ancestry. Thus, the roots of showbiz can be traced to Anne’s family. She is the second of three children with an older brother Michael and a younger brother named Thomas.
When Anne was barely 6, her family shifted to the Short Hills neighborhood in Milburn, New Jersey. She grew up there. Meanwhile, she saw her mother’s performance; she immediately got fascinated and expressed her desire to become an actress.
However, she had to shun the idea because her mother quit acting for raising her children. Anne and her two brothers were raised in an austere Roman Catholic Church household environment.
At one point in her life, Anne decided to become a Nun but soon her attitude towards the values of the Catholic Church changed because the church did not approve of homosexuality. Her elder brother Michael is gay.

Anne was sent to Brooklyn Heights Montessori School for her primary education and after that, she was admitted to Wyoming Elementary school in Milburn. After completing her schooling, she went on to graduate from Milburn High School.
In high school, she played soccer and later got featured in numerous plays including ‘ Once Upon A Mattress ‘ as Winifred. In the meantime, she got the opportunity to work at Newjersey’s Paper Mill Theatre where she was cast in plays like Jane Eyre and Gigi.
