Yuki and Olivetti advance to doubles final

Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri rose five places in the latest ATP doubles ranking on Monday and reached a career-high ranking of 43.

His rise in ranking was fuelled by his recent US Open 2024 run, during which he reached the third round with Frenchman Albano Olivetti as his doubles partner.

2024 has been a productive year for the Indian, having won his second ATP title at the 2024 BMW Open with Olivetti. He had won his first ATP title just a year back at the 2023 Mallorca Championships.

Following the BMW Open triumph, he also reached the final of the 2024 ATP Lyon Open with Olivetti and earlier this year in June, broke into the top 50 world ranking in ATP doubles.

He was in strong contention to be the doubles partner for Rohan Bopanna at the Paris Olympics but the veteran went with Sriram Balaji at the end.

At the US Open, after defeating Ryan Seggerman/Patrik Trhac of the USA in round one and Austin Krajicek/Jean-Julien Rojer in round two, the Bhambri/Olivetti duo lost to Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos in straight sets, bringing to an end their US Open pursuit.

He is the first Indian to win the junior Australian Open title in 2009, and the fourth Indian in history to capture a junior singles title at a Grand Slam championship.
