Wrestler Antim Panghal decides to skip Asian Wrestling Championships

Delhi: World Championships medalist Antim Panghal has made the decision to skip the approaching Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishkek from April 11.

Antim’s childhood coach Vikash Bhardwaj confirmed the development and cited preparation for the forthcoming 2024 Paris Olympics as a person of the key reasons guiding the decision.

“She will not be competing in the Asian Championships. We have made a decision to just take this final decision to emphasis on the preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics,” Vikas informed The Bridge over a telephone phone.

Two-time U-20 World Winner Antim has been out of motion considering the fact that October 2023 after acquiring a stellar year. Antim won a bronze medal on her debut at the Planet Championships, received the only Paris Olympics quota for the place, defended her U-20 title, and gained the Asian Game titles bronze.

She was awarded the Arjuna Award for her stellar show in 2023.

Antim skipped the national championships in February and was provided a direct berth for the Asian Championships. She also suffered a muscle mass pressure prior to the trials of the Asian Championships.

Nonetheless, she has recovered from her injuries and is hunting to coach overseas for the Olympics.

“As anticipated she recovered from the injuries at the stop of March. We are now setting up to educate in overseas but almost nothing is determined as of now,” Vikas explained.
