World Junior Weightlifting C'ships: Dhanush secures double bronze

Indian weightlifter Dhanush Loganathan clinched two bronze medals—one in the Snatch and another for Overall Weight—in the Men’s 55 kg category at the World Junior Weightlifting Championships in Spain on Thursday.

The 17-year-old, who competed in Group B due to his entry weight, surprised everyone by securing two medals at the event.

He had an outstanding start, lifting his personal best of 107 kg in the snatch category, which earned him the bronze medal in that discipline. He then followed up with a lift of 124 kg in the Clean and Jerk, bringing his overall total to 231 kg and finishing at the top of Group B.

Although he missed his final attempt at 127 kg in the Clean and Jerk, he still secured a crucial bronze medal, which he had to wait nearly six hours to confirm until the conclusion of Group A.

Vietnam’s K Duong won the gold medal with a combined total of 253 kg, while the silver medal went to Japan’s Kotaro Tomari, who totaled 247 kg.
