Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli evicted from NIS Patiala for entering women's hostel at night

Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli has been expelled from the preparatory camp for the Paris Olympics immediately after he was caught coming into the women’s hostel at night time at NIS Patiala.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medallist was caught by the security staff, who captured his existence on the hostel campus in a video clip.

Sheuli, who competes in the men’s 73kg bodyweight division, dedicated the disciplinary breach on Thursday night time.

His expulsion meant his probabilities of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics have also ended, as he will not be travelling for this month’s IWF Environment Cup in Phuket, Thailand, which is a required function for the Paris Online games qualification.

Sheuli is at the moment positioned 27th in the Olympic qualification rankings and has experienced a strong probability of qualifying for the Olympics through the continental quota.

Sports Authority of India (SAI) did not experience the need to have to type an investigating panel as the video proof was currently readily available.

“The video was sent to NIS Patiala ED Vineet Kumar and the SAI headquarters in New Delhi and IWLF was requested to take away Achinta from the camp,” an SAI source explained.

Sheuli, who hails from Hawarah’s Deulpur, still left the preparatory camp on Friday.

The NIS Patiala has individual hostels for adult men and gals athletes. At present, gals boxers, athletes and wrestlers are positioned at the NIS.

This is not the very first time a disciplinary action has been taken against a weightlifter. A further CWG gold medallist and Youth Olympics champion Jeremy Lalrinnunga was expelled from the nationwide camp on grounds of indiscipline just before.
