Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik expressed their anger around the revocation of suspension of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) by the sports ministry on Tuesday. They urged Key Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and oust Brij Bhushan from Indian athletics establishments.
This response arrived just after the Indian Olympic Affiliation (IOA), on Monday, announced the dissolution of the ad-hoc committee dependable for overseeing wrestling in the state given that December 23 previous year, two days just after the elections of the Sanjay Singh-led WFI.
Previous Olympic medalist Sakshi took to social media to convey her disappointment with the return of WFI as the sole authority of Indian wrestling.
“Heritage repeats itself, once again a potent leader will suppress his ability on a girls. In this 21st Century, we bravely fought with this discrimination so that our gals wrestlers come to feel secure but this cruel man or woman is way above justice, govt, Constitution,” she wrote on X.
“Right after the suspension of WFI, Brij Bhushan was threatening us that it was just a short term suspension and quickly he would be leading the Indian wrestling in upcoming and it turns out to be real as IOA now uplifted their suspension. ‘Don’t use ladies as shields’
Fellow player Vinesh Phogat echoed Sakshi and slammed PM Modi for remaining mum on women’s security in sports.
“The Prime Minister is a spin master, is familiar with how to spin the concern by invoking “women power” to counter the speeches of his rivals. Narendra Modi ji, enable us also know the serious fact of women’s energy. Brij Bhushan, who exploited ladies wrestlers, has once more taken more than wrestling,” she wrote on X.

Vinesh also urged PM Modi to intervene in this make any difference and get the job done for women’s protection. “I hoped that you will not just use females as shields, but will also do one thing to oust this kind of oppressors from the sports establishments of the region,” explained Vinesh.
