Susanna Reid is a celebrated English Journalist and television presenter. She is best known for Co-presenting BBC Breakfast with Bill Turnbull( from 2001 to 2014). She also came to the limelight for her Morning show Good Morning aired on ITV. She also acted as a presenter on Sunday Morning Live on BBC One (2010-11). Apart from all these, she also acted as a journalist on many other News channels.

Susanna Reid Biography

Susanna was born in Croydon, South London, England on 10 December 1970. She was the youngest daughter of her parents. Her father’s name is Barry Reid who is a Management Consultant. Her mother’s name is Sue Smith, a nurse by profession.

Her education started at independent Croham Hurst School (1975-81). Then she went to Independent Croydon High School (1981-87) and St. Paul’s Girls’ High School (1987-89) in London. Reid, thereafter, pursued her higher studies at the University of Bristol.

She studied Philosophy and Politics there. At that time, she was an editor of a student newspaper called Epigram. She also trained herself in journalism at Cardiff University’s Centre for Journalism. She achieved Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.

Just at the age of 9, she got to know about her parent’s separation. So, she became very practical from an early age.

Career

When Susanna was still a teenager, she appeared in a stage show of Agatha Christie’s play Spider’s Web in 1982. Then she appeared in a Television drama series The Price (1985). It was aired on Channel 4. Her career started in full swing after the completion of her graduation.

She joined BBC Radio Bristol. After that, she became a reporter as well as a producer for Radio 5 Live. She also worked as a reporter for BBC News 24 for a few years. One day she gave time to the 11 p.m. Presenter who was absent that night.

She was then three months pregnant. But she continued her work. As a result, she got a permanent post on that news channel. Her dedication to her work led her to become more successful. In the early 2000s, she achieved the position of the chief presenter of the BBC Breakfast weekend show on BBC One.

She was seen appearing in the show along with Bill Turnbull on certain days(Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays). She was previously presented with Charlie Stayt on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In 2010 she stopped working on Saturdays and Sundays.

On those vacant days, she started to appear on a new program Sunday Morning Live. Having done the final episode of the first series of ‘Sunday Morning Live’ on 21 November 2010, she continued her weekend show BBC Breakfast after two weeks.

Reid presented the BBC’s live coverage of the 2009 Oscars which was held in Los Angeles. She also worked as a presenter of the live coverage of BBC for the 2010 Oscars.

She was also a presenter of the show New Year Live on 31 December 2013. The whole show was shown live on BBC One in2013.

It was known from the sources that ITV made an effort to engage Reid for their new breakfast program in February 2014. The lump sum they offered was approximately £ 1 million.

She had turned down the proposal of joining ITV at the time of her show Strictly Come Dancing.

On 3 March 2014 BBC made its way to ITV to face the rival breakfast program Good Morning Britain. She hosted the shows from Monday to Wednesday and on Thursday she appeared along with Ben Shephard. She hosted the program from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

On 19 December she was seen appearing on the Text Santa episode of Tipping Point with other Morning Britain presenters. In 2017 Reid presented the show Save Money: Good Food alongside Matt Tebbutt. In 2018 she appeared in Hollyoaks as a Cameo.

In 2020 she showed up on Celebrity Gogglebox along with the Barrister and Television Judge Robert Rinder. Recently on 03 May 2022, she had a discussion with English Prime Minister Boris Johnson in an interview. She interviewed him live on Good Morning Britain.

Personal life

Susanna Reid had a relationship with former sports correspondent Dominic Cotton. They got separated in 2014 after staying together for long 16 years. Reid resides in South London with her three children.

She is a supporter of Crystal Palace, a football club. In 2018 she got engaged to the club’s chairman Steve Parish. But in 2019  their relationship ended.

Reid is also a charitable woman. She was associated with a charity Trust named Media Trust.

Before becoming a reporter for Breakfast News she worked for three months in Sri Lanka to survey the victims of civil war. She also worked for orphans and backward societies.

Reid also raised money by participating in the London Marathon for sports relief on 22 April 2012.
