Sheikh Shahjahan submits ‘retraction' petition to withdraw statements made before ED

Kolkata: The counsel for suspended Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan on Saturday filed a ‘retraction’ petition in a particular PMLA courtroom, trying to get permission to withdraw the statements built by Shahjahan prior to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) though in its custody.

Shahjahan’s counsel claimed in the hand-penned petition that his shopper was underneath stress from the ED to give fake statements in the revenue laundering circumstances lodged towards him.

The ED counsel, having said that, objected to the hand-published retraction petition, claiming it was not crystal clear if the contents of the letter had been penned by the accused. The ED counsel also argued from the contents of the letter, which accused the central agency of placing tension on Shahjahan to give fake statements.

Soon after hearing the two sides, the judge of the unique courtroom detailed the issue for a detailed hearing on April 15.

To remember, suspended Trinamool youth wing chief Kuntal Ghosh, who is now in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the funds-for-college careers case, had also claimed that the ED place strain on him to title the party’s National Typical Secretary Abhishek Banerjee as an accused in the case.
