Ace Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden advanced to the men’s doubles third round at the US Open on Saturday.
Bopanna and Ebden registered a straight-set (6-2, 6-4) win over the Spanish-Argentinean pairing of Roberto Carballes Baena and Federico Coria in the second round.
Bopanna and Ebden will face off against Argentinean duo Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni in the pre-quarterfinals on Sunday.
In the mixed doubles clash, Bopanna and Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi defeated Demi Schuurs and Tim Putz 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5) in the first round.
Bopanna and Sutjiadi will run into John Peers and Katerina Siniakova in the second round.

Bhambri progresses
Meanwhile, Yuki Bhambri and his French men’s doubles partner Albano Olivetti also progressed to the third round.
Bhambri and Olivetti defeated Austin Krajicek and Jean-Julien Rojer 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to progress to the third round.
However, N Sriram Balaji and his Argentine partner Guido Andreozzi were eliminated from the tournament after their second-round defeat to Michael Venus and Neal Skupski in straight sets 6(4)-7, 4-6.
