ISL: Rei Tachikawas rocket and other top goals from Matchweek 4

Four matchweeks have come and gone in the 2024-25 edition of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Bengaluru FC and Punjab FC are sitting at the first and second position in the league, with the former securing 10 points from their first four matches, followed by the resurgent Punjab FC, with three wins out of three, in second.

Although the matchweek started rather quietly with two goalless draws, goals soon started flowing in with the last four games witnessing 15 goals.

As the teams head into the international break, we at The Bridge have brought you the top goals of matchweek four of the ISL.

#5 Borja Herrera, FC Goa

Late goals have become a regular occurrence in this year’s ISL, and Borja Herrera of FC Goa added his name to the long list in the thrilling 3-3 draw between FC Goa and NorthEast United FC.

Trailing 2-3 in the 94th minute, Herrera received the ball in the crowded penalty area and skillfully took a touch to create space before shooting the ball into the net.

His close control to set himself up for the shot was world-class. Watch it here:

#4: Greg Stewart, Mohun Bagan SG

The match everyone looked forward to in Matchweek 4 was Mohun Bagan taking on MohammedanSporting, the first Kolkata derby of the season.

The reigning ISL League Shield winners put on a cohesive display and secured a comfortable 3-0 win over ISL debutants Mohammedan Sporting, thanks to Greg Stewart, who controlled midfield.

Leading 2-0, Greg got the ball in the wide left and drifted inwards, cutting across the Mohammedan defence and leaving them floored, before finishing the move with a tidy finish in the near post, making it 3-0 and sealing the game for his side.

#3: Alaeddin Ajaraie, NorthEast United FC

Ajaraie has made scoring big goals a habit.

With the score tied at 2-2, Ajaraie took the ball from the right. With his trademark run, hecut inside into the box, and despite slipping up as he lined up for to shoot, he produced a wonderful curling shot into the far corner of the net, giving the lead to his team.

#2: Noah Sadaoui, Kerala Blasters

What is it about Moroccan players’ brilliance in the ISL this year?

Like his national teammate Ajaraie, Noah Sadaoui has taken a firm liking to life at his new club and continues to shine for the Kerala Blasters

A quick break saw Jiminez with the ball and the striker held up the ball brilliantly and slid the ball through for Noah who opened his body and placed his first shot into the far side expertly.

Everything about that goal screamed perfection!

#1: Rei Tachikawa, Jamshedpur FC

The goal of the Matchweek 4, without question, is the thunderbolt from Rei Tachikawa for Jamshedpur against East Bengal FC.

After an initial block by the East Bengal defence, the ball dropped kindly to the midfielder who took a touch and from close to 30 yards out, unleashed a rocket that headed straight into the roof of the net.

There was no way the East Bengal keeper was saving that, it was placed with extreme accuracy and tremendous power.
