Rashmi Desai is an Indian actress. She is also a model and a good dancer. She is best known for her appearance in the Television Serial ‘Uttaran’, where she played the role of Tapasya Raghuvendra Pratap. She also appeared in several Hindi and Bhojpuri movies.

Ajay Desai and Rasila Desai were blessed with a girl child on 13th February 1986 and she is Rashmi alias, Shivani Desai. She was born in Nagaon, Assam in a Gujarati family. She had a brother named Gaurav Desai whom she lost at a young age. So her family shifted to Mumbai. After that, she completed her schooling at JB Khot Primary School. Later, she pursued a diploma course in Tours and Travels from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. The reason behind pursuing a diploma in Tours and Travels is that she likes to explore the world a lot. But during her course, she started to get projects for acting.
Career
In 2002, Rashmi stepped into the glamour world for the first time. At first, she appeared in regional films only. Later, she debuted in the film industry with the Assamese movie Kanyadaan. Then, in 2004, she debuted in Bollywood with the romantic mystery movie Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke which was directed by Birendra Nath Tiwari. Shah Rukh Khan and Ravina Tandon played the lead roles in the movie. In this movie, Rashmi played the role of a college student named Sheetal. In 2005, she acted in the movie Shabnam Mausi, where she played the role of Naina. Meanwhile, she appeared in many Bhojpuri films and earned fame. The movies like Balma Bada Nadan and Gabbar Singh are her notable Bhojpuri films. She achieved National Award for her role in Bhojpuri films.
Then she made her debut in Television in the year 2006 with the Mythological TV series Ravan which was aired on Zee TV. In this serial, she played the lead role of, Mandodari, the queen of Ravana. In the following year, she was seen acting in the English movie Sambar Salsa directed by Aditya Raj Kapoor. She came into the limelight in the year 2008 when she got a major role in the daily soap Pari Hoon Main. She had to play a double role in this serial. She played the roles of Nikki Shrivastav and Pari Ray Choudhury so well that the audience praised her for her acting. This serial was broadcasted on Star one. The director and producer of the show was Ravi Chopra. Again she was seen on Star One’s famous soap Ssshhhh… Phir Koi Hai. Manish Paul was opposite her role in the serial. Then she played a minor role in the Television Serial Meet De Rabba. It was broadcasted on Sony TV. She played the role of Dr.Meher Datta in the serial. Rashmi was eulogized thoroughly for her presentation in the Soap Uttaran which was broadcasted on Colors TV. This serial opened a new vista for Indian Television. As a result, she reached the summit of her career. She received many awards for this serial.
In January 2012, she chose not to act in the serial. But in November she came back with a renewed energy. However, the show came to a halt and she left it. She also participated in many Reality Shows like Comedy Circus 3 Ka Tadka(Sony TV), Zara Nachke Dikha(Star Plus), Imagine TV’s Reality Show Meethi Choori No 1. In 2012 she took part in many Reality Shows like Haunted Nights (Sahara One),
Jhalak Dikhhla Ja Season 5 (Colors TV). In the same year she appeared in Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 in a Cameo role. In 2013 she was a part of the Comedy Show Nautanki : Colors TV broadcasted the Comedy Show.
In 2014 she acted in a family drama named Savdhaan India. She was also a participant of the reality show Fear Factor : Khatron Ke Khiladi 6(2015).In the same year she appeared in Nach Baliye 7 with her husband Nandish Sandhu. In the same year she was featured in a music video Teri Ek Hassi. Jubin Nautiyal gave his voice for the song. In 2016 she appeared in many serials like Adhuri Kahaani Hamari.
In 2017 she was busy working in Dil Se Dil Tak. Here she acted opposite Sidharth Sukla. It was based on the Hindi Film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. She received Golden Petal Award for her excellent acting in this series. This year she shared the screen in a Gujarati Thriller Superstar. She acted in the movie opposite Dhruvin Shah. Bhavin Wadia directed the movie. Next, she showed up in Chalo Saaf Karein, a series scheduled to be aired on DD National in 2019. The program was undertaken by Doordarshan and the Ministry of Drinking and Sanitation. It was all about Swachhata i.e. cleanliness. In the same year, she participated in the reality show Big Boss 13. Then in 2020, she appeared in a fantasy thriller series Naagin 4:Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel. Next, she appeared in a short film entitled Tamas opposite the male lead Adhvik Mahajan. Here she acted as Sania.
After that, she participated in a game show called Ladies vs Gentleman hosted by actor Ritesh Deshmukh and actress Genelia D’Souza. In late 2020 she was featured in Palash Muchhal’s dance video music Ab Kiya Jaan Legi Meri. Palash Muchhal and Amit Mishra lent their voice to the song. . In the year 2021, she debuted on the digital Screen with the Web Series Tandoor. It is a romantic thriller. Next, She appeared in MVs like Subhan Allah, Zindagi Khafa Khafa. In the month of November, she entered Big Boss 15. In 2022 she appeared in MV like Qatilana, Biraj Mein Jhoom, Tere Pind, and Parwah.

On February 12th,2012 Reshmi married Nandish Sandhu, her uttaran co- star but in 2015 they got separated. Again in 2018 she met Arhaan Khan but the love relationship ended in 2020.
