NorthEast United sign MOU with Meghalaya Government for Residential Academy

NorthEast United FC had a blistering start to the 2024-2025 season, winning their maiden trophy at the recently concluded Durand Cup 2024.

The club is now implementing several significant measures to enhance football in the region.

To further spread the love for the sport across the Northeast, they have decided to play a few of their home matches at the Jawahar Nehru Stadium in Shillong.

Club CEO Mandar Tamhanne confirmed this initiative following their visit to the JN Stadium in Shillong on Thursday for the Open Training and Media Day program.

Additionally, the club has invited fans to meet the NEUFC champions for a meet-and-greet, allowing them to capture memorable moments during the media day.

Before allowing the stadium to host their matches, the club conducted necessary surveys and provided recommendations to the state government, including suggestions for broadcast camera angles.

Northeast United FC signed a Mou with the Meghalaya Government

NorthEast United has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Meghalaya government, securing 15 acres of land outside Shillong to establish their own residential Centre of Excellence.

The club aims to begin construction of the residential academy on the outskirts of Shillong by next year, which will bolster their youth development structure.

NorthEast United kicked off their ISL Season 11 with a winning start against debutants Mohammedan SC on September 16, thanks to a late injury-time winner from Moroccan forward Alaeddine Ajaraie.

They are eager to build on this momentum and continue the success they achieved with their Durand Cup triumph as they progress through the ISL season.
