Indian para athlete Nishad Kumar has won a Silver medal in the men’s high jump at the Paris Paralympics 2024, marking his second Paralympic medal and India’s seventh in the high jump event, on Sunday.

Nishad jumped 2.04 meters to secure second place on Sunday, September 1.

In the same event, fellow Indian athlete Ram Pal finished in seventh place with a jump of 1.95 meters, matching his personal best.

The event was dominated by the USA’s Roderick Townsend-Roberts, who claimed the gold with a jump of 2.08 meters.

Nishad and Roderick were the only athletes to clear the 2.00-meter mark.

Both made attempts at 2.08 meters, but while Roderick succeeded on his second try to win the gold, Nishad missed his chance, earning him the silver.

With this Nishad became the youngest to win back-to-back Paralympics medals.
