Leopard sighted near Hyderabad airport

A leopard was sighted near the Rajiv Gandhi Global Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday.

The Forest Office has introduced an operation to capture the leopard soon after its movement was captured on CCTV cameras set up all around the airport vicinity.

The forest personnel installed entice cameras and established up cages as part of their operation.

The animal was sighted in the airport location near the plane repair service centre in the early hours of the working day in close proximity to Gollapalli beneath Shamshabad municipality in Ranga Reddy district.

The existence of the leopard activated panic between residents. The officers have suggested them to be careful.

In accordance to officers, the large cat jumped above the boundary wall of the airport in close proximity to Gollapalli, triggering an alarm in the Airport Manage Space. The airport authorities promptly alerted the Forest Department, which introduced an operation to capture it. Two cubs are thought to be accompanying the leopard.

With the aid of CCTV footage, the officers recognized the spot in which the leopard was observed and were concentrating their attempts there.

There have been a couple instances of leopards straying into regions close to human habitations on the town outskirts. In 2020, a leopard had strayed into the Rajendranagar spot and was viewed resting in the middle of the street. It was later trapped by the Forest Office.
