ISL: Jamshedpur FC players rule team of the week - Matchweek 4

Mohun Bagan SG made a great finish in Matchweek 4, which was more of a week of draws, after winning their first Kolkata derby of the season against Mohammedan SC on Saturday.

The fourth week of the Indian Super League (ISL) saw fewer goals as compared to the previous weeks, with four matches ending in draws, including two goalless draws.

However, the excitement of the season was still high as Jamshedpur FC and Mohun Bagan earned crucial victories whereas it was a fourth consecutive defeat for East Bengal FC.

Here are the top-performing players of the fourth week of ISL 2024-25 who form the Team Of The Week:

Goalkeeper

Albino Gomes – Jamshedpur FC

Albino played a crucial role in Jamshedpur’s victory against East Bengal as he made crucial saves in the match to keep a clean sheet. He made a total of six saves in the match – four of them from the close-range situation.

His biggest impact came in the 64th minute when he saved a penalty from Saul Crespo, diving to his right to preserve his team’s one-goal lead.

Defenders

Ashutosh Mehta – Jamshedpur FC

Another key member for Jamshedpur FC’s first clean sheet in the season was left-back Ashutosh Mehta, who ruled the left wing despite playing against the likes of Mehdi Talal and Naorem Mahesh.

Ashutosh made five successful tackles in the match and also won both his aerial duels against much taller opponents of East Bengal.

Rahul Bheke – Bengaluru FC

Bheke is one the most consistent Indian players this season helping his team to win four consecutive clean sheets in the ongoing season.

His accurate tackles and interceptions proved to be very decisive for his side as they were able to stop the attacking powerhouses of Mumbai City FC and continue their unbeaten run.

Alex Saji – Hyderabad FC

The young defender enjoyed an outstanding outing against a sturdy Chennaiyin FC in an away game as he stood tall in Hyderabad FC’s defence and didn’t allow the Chennaiyin FC strikers to train their feet on the goal.

He also played a crucial role in the aerial game and won five of the six aerial duels against the striker Chima Chukwu, who is known for his physical game.

Subhasish Bose – Mohun Bagan SG

The India international played an amazing game against Mohammedan SC in the Kolkata derby, making a solid presence in the defence winning 10 duels and creating five successful tackles.

Subhasish was also a big threat to the Moammedan Sporting defence as he made two goal contributions, having scored one goal and an assist. He could have scored a few more goals but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Midfielders

Alaeddine Ajaraie – Northeast United FC

The Moroccan midfielder showcased his skills in his debut ISL season. He is currently leading the Golden Boot race with 6 goal contributions, 4 goals, and 2 assists.

He scored a goal this week as well. He also provided an assist to another goal as the team snatched a high-scoring draw against FC Goa.

Greg Stewart – Mohun Bagan SG

The player of the week is Greg Stewart of Mohun Bagan who had an amazing outing in the Kolkata derby making three goal contributions, including a solo goal from the edge of the box.

This was Greg’s first goal in the colours of Mohun Bagan. He also ruled the midfield, curating two assists and a couple of big chances for his Australian forward Mclaren.

Imran Khan – Jamshedpur FC

Imran Khan played a crucial role in the midfield of Jamshedpur FC as he displayed his passing accuracy. He also sent a few dangerous crosses from the right flank.

He also helped his team by stopping the opponents from making attacking moves. He made three timely tackles in the match.

Noah Sadaoui – Kerala Blasters FC

Noah Sadaoui continued his good run for the Kerala Blasters and made two more goal contributions for the side in a 2-2 draw against Odisha FC. He played a crucial role in creating the team’s attack from the left flank.

He also scored a curling goal to the far side of the goalkeeper and doubled his team’s lead. Earlier, he also assisted the goal for his striker Jimenez to open the scoring in the match.

Forwards

Nestor Albiach – Northeast United FC

The Spanish forward scored a brace for Northeast United FC in a crucial away game against FC Goa. He had a solid presence in the penalty box of FC Goa and troubled their defence on numerous occasions.

Nestor also used his height advantage and won five out of five aerial battles against the FC Goa defence. He helped his side win a crucial point in the league.

Jerry Mawihmingthanga – Odisha FC

Jerry Mawihmingthanga played a crucial role in Odisha FC’s 2-2 draw against Kerala Blasters FC. His quick runs down the right wing to support his strikers with crosses and through balls were impressive.

He also provided an assist to a goal as he played a crucial one-two pass with Diego Mauricio which resulted in an equaliser for his side.
