Indian Fencers miss Olympic Quotas at the Asia-Oceania Olympic Qualifiers

Indian fencers displayed dedication and ability at the Asia-Oceania Olympic Qualifiers but fell short of securing quotas for the Paris Olympics at Fujairah, on Sunday.

In the women’s events, Taniksha designed it to the remaining of the Epee class, struggling with off against Singapore’s Kiria Tikanah in a carefully contested match that ended 13-15 in Tikanah’s favor. Taniksha also picked up a purple card in the direction of the stop of the video game.

In the meantime, Bhavani Devi’s journey in the women’s Sabre class finished in the semifinals. On the men’s aspect, Karan attained the ultimate but experienced a defeat against Chinese player Chenpeng Shen with a score of 2-15 yesterday.

Irrespective of their valiant initiatives, none of the Indian fencers have been equipped to safe quotas for the Paris Game titles. Taniksha’s amazing overall performance in the women’s Epee ultimate leaves her just one win away from securing a quota place, offering a glimmer of hope for foreseeable future qualification alternatives. Bhavani Devi’s semifinal exit and Karan’s defeat in the ultimate dashed India’s hopes of securing quotas in the respective gatherings.
