IIT Delhi, ITU to host UN-based robotics championship in India in October

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technologies Delhi (IIT Delhi) and the Global Telecommunication Union (ITU) on Saturday joined fingers to organise the to start with at any time UN-centered educational robotics championship in India in Oct this 12 months.

The Robotics for Very good Youth Obstacle 2024-2025 is a global initiative of the ITU, as aspect of AI for Superior, the UN platform on artificial intelligence (AI).

The function, to be organised by IIT Delhi’s technology innovation hub IHFC, will place Indian pupils and their robotics expertise on the world map. It also appears to be like at targeting learners to supply robotic answers for disaster administration, which is a significant concentrate location across the world.

The problem is designed for two age groups — Junior (Course 6-8) and Senior (Class 9-12) — where by the participants will get to style, build, and programme a robot that completes a mission dependent on advertising the UN’s Sustainable Enhancement Plans (SDGs).

The emphasis is on Robotics for Very good, emphasising addressing normal disasters like earthquakes, seismic possibility prediction, and soil and subsurface scientific tests. The key goal is to permit swift intervention through disasters to successfully minimise their impact.

An India qualifying tournament will be held on Oct 17 at the International Exhibition Convention Centre in Delhi, in advance of a qualifying match primary to the grand finale in Geneva in the course of the AI for Superior World wide Summit 2025.

IHFC aims to handhold the participants, foster innovation in their robotics for very good generation, and prepare them to produce a little something sustainable for managing disasters.
