In Hockey India’s novel initiative aimed at standardising coaching methodologies across the country and nurturing the next technology of hockey talent, former goalkeepers and drag-flickers underwent intensive education underneath the tutelage of Substantial-Performance Director Herman Kruis at SAI Bengaluru.
The programme, conceived with the vision of making sure uniformity and consistency in coaching, witnessed the participation of esteemed former India goalkeepers Adrian D’Souza, Bharat Chetri, Yogita Bali, Helen Mary, Dipika Murty, Akash Chikte, PT Rao, and eminent previous India drag-sparkles Rupinder Pal Singh, Gurjinder Singh, VR Raghunath, and Jaspreet Kaur.
Less than the watchful eye of Kruis, these stalwarts honed their coaching skills, ensuring that they had been geared up with the most current methods and methodologies in goalkeeping and drag-flicking.
The aim is to streamline coaching methods, enabling athletes across the country, in particular at the grassroots level, to study the same fundamentals and capabilities, therefore fostering uniformity in instruction specifications.
“This programme underscores our motivation to nurturing talent and standardising coaching methodologies. By equipping former hockey icons with superior coaching strategies, we are empowering them to form the long term of Indian hockey. This collaborative effort will not only elevate the high-quality of coaching but also improve the prospective clients of our youthful athletes,” reported Kruis.
Also, following the completion of their coaching, these seasoned trainers will be deployed to premier national academies through India to conduct intense 3-day education sessions.
This strategic deployment guarantees that their knowledge is shared throughout the country, benefiting younger athletes who aspire to excel in the activity.
Notably, this landmark enhancement aligns with Hockey India’s recently declared initiative, which seeks to make investments in the future of Indian hockey by way of specialised coaching focusing on youthful drag-sparkles and goalkeepers.
By prioritising the identification and refinement of expertise at the grassroots amount, Hockey India aims to fortify the talent pipeline, guaranteeing a steady inflow of experienced gamers into the nation’s prestigious hockey teams.
