Divya Spandana is an Indian actress and politician. She predominantly appears in Kannada films. On the other hand, she was the elected Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Mandya, Karnataka in 2013. She also served the Indian National Congress Party as the chief of the digital media team.

Divya Spandana Biography:
Divya, widely popular as Ramya, was born on 29th November 1982 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Her father late R.T.Narayan was a famous industrialist.
On the flip side, her mother Ranjitha Ramya is a senior Congress Party leader. In fact, she is quite active in regional politics. Divya completed her school education from St.Hilda’s School and Junior college, Ooty. After that, she was admitted to Sacred Heart School, Chennai. After completing her school she returned to Bengaluru and was admitted to St.Joseph’s College of Commerce. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce.
Career:
Since her childhood, Divya aspired to become an actress. Her long-cherished desire turned into reality when she debuted in the Kannada film Abhi in 2003(Directed by Punit Rajkumar). In 2004 she appeared in the Tamil film industry with the movie ‘Kuthu‘.Her debut film made miracles at the box office. Moreover, the film proved to be a massive hit. People not only loved Divya’s acting in the movie but also labeled her with the nickname Ramya which in actuality was the name of her reel life character.
In the same year, she appeared in ‘Giri’, a Tamil film directed by Sundar C. Meanwhile, she showed up again in three Kannada films- Akash (2005), Gowramma (2005), and Amrithadhare (2005) which proved to be massive box office hits.
In the same year, she reappeared in Julie (a remake of the original Hindi movie Julie). The movie was a complete failure. But she was awarded the Film Fare award for her outstanding performance in the movie Tananam Tananam (In the same year).
In 2007 she showed up in the lead role of the movie Arasu where she played the role of a sex worker. The movie was based on AIDS awareness. Her acting immediately grabbed the mass’s attention. Moreover, the movie became Superhit with a huge box office collection.
In 2008 she was awarded the best actress award for her brilliant performance in the movie Mussanje Maatu (language- Kannada, Director- Mahesh, Release Date- 16th May 2008, India). Thereafter, she appeared in several other hit movies like-
Bombat, National Award-winning film Vaaranam Aayiram, Singam Puli, Sanju weds Geeta, Sidlingu &Lucky.
Political Career:
After producing back-to-back Superhit films both in Kannada and Telugu film industries, she decided to enter the field of politics. Hence, in 2013 she officially joined Indian National Congress Party. She considered S.M.Krishna her political guru. Back in the year 2012 she already joined the National Youth Congress. In 2013 she was elected as the Member of Parliament from Mandya, Karnataka, India but in 2014 she got defeated in the general elections to her nearest opponent Puttaraju ( 5500 less votes).
Meanwhile, in 2017 The Indian National Congress Party replaced Dipendra Sing Chadda with Divya making her the chief of their digital media team.
In the same year, there was a buzz that she was going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party but she rejected the claim.
She also made news headlines for Anti Cinderella Campaign.
