Kumar Vishwas is a famous Indian poet and a lecturer. He mainly writes poems in Hindi. He is also a popular politician. Above all,  he is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Some of his notable works include – “Ek Pagli Ladki Ke Bin”(1996),Koi Deewana Kehta Hai“(2007),  “Phir Meri Yaad”(2017), and “Hai Naman Unko”, “Apne Apne Ram” etc.

 Kavi Kumar Vishwas

He was born on  February 10, 1970, into a middle-class Brahmin family in Pilkhuwa, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father  Chandra Pal Sharma was a lecturer at R.S.S Degree college in Pilkhuwa. On the other hand, her mother Rama Sharma is a homemaker. Among six of his siblings, Vishwas is the youngest.

After completing his early education at Lala Ganga Sahay School, he did his intermediate at The Rajputana Regiment Inter-College. Later, to fulfill his father’s dream, he was admitted to Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College. But, he left engineering soon, and, he pursued Ph.D. in Hindi Literature. Meanwhile, he changed his name from Vishwas Kumar Sharma to Kumar Vishwas.

Career

He began his career as a part-time lecturer at Indira Gandhi PG College, Pilibanga, Rajasthan in the year 1994. In the same year, he became a professor of Hindi Literature at Lala Lajpat Rai College, Rajasthan.

In 2005, he met Arvind Kejriwal and participated in India Against Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare. Later,  in 2012, he became a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, set up by Arvind Kejriwal.  Afterward, in 2014, he contested as an AAP candidate from Amethi in the 2014 Lok Sabha Election.

But he got only 25000 votes and then Congress leader Rahul Gandhi defeated him with a huge margin of votes. He was also an active member of the Civil Society.

He participated in Kabi Sammelan (Poet’s Meet) all over India and across many countries like Singapore, Japan, Nepal, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat, USA.

Besides recitation, he wrote many songs for TV serials. Even, he composed the University Anthem or “Kul-Geet” of the Chaudhary Charan Singh University. Up next, in 2018, he hosted a comedy program “KV Sammelan”, aired on the Aaj Tak channel.

Then,  he also appeared as a guest judge in the “Indian Idol” and “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs”, telecasted on Zee TV. On 1st July 2017, he was invited as a guest on the” Kapil Sharma Show” along with Rahat Indori and Shabinaji. In the following year, he worked as a composer of the song ” De De Jagah” for the Bollywood film” Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran” and also for” Veer Bhagat Singh”.

The next year on 21st September, he again glorified the guest seat of” Kapil Sharma Show” with Manoj Bajpai and Pankaj Tripathi. Later, he published a musical poetry series named “Tarpan” in which he lent his voice to many poems written by famous historical poets.

Awards

For his excellent poetry, he got the “Kavya Kumar Award” from Dr. Kunwar Baichain Kavya Samman Avam Puruskaar Samiti in 1994. In 2004, Sahitya Bharti in Unnao bestowed him the “Dr. Suman Alankarna Award”.

In 2006, he received the “Sahitya Shree Award” from the Hindi -Urdu Award Committee. Afterward, he got the Dr. Urmilesh “Geet Shree” Samman by Dr. Urmilesh Jan Chetna Samiti in Badaun.
