The rescheduled 39th National Junior Athletics Championships will be held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from December 7 to 11.
Originally scheduled for October 25–29, the event was postponed in October due to Cyclone Dana, which affected Odisha on the night of October 24-25.
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced the new dates on social media, having postponed the event on October 22 to ensure the safety of athletes.
The Championships will attract India’s top junior athletes from across the country. In a separate communication, Siddhartha Das, Director of Sports for Odisha, expressed readiness to host the event.
“In reference to the subject cited above, I am to inform you that the Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, has agreed to the rescheduled dates to host the 39th National Junior Athletics Championship at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, from December 7 to 11, 2024, in association with the Odisha Athletics Association and under the aegis of the Athletics Federation of India,” the letter read.
Athletes will compete in four age categories, with eligibility determined by their age and date-of-birth certificates.
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has issued the age groups and corresponding birth date requirements for the 39th National Junior Athletics Championships as follows:
Under 14 (Boys and Girls): Born between November 12, 2010, and November 11, 2012
Under 16 (Boys and Girls): Born between November 12, 2008, and November 11, 2010
Under 18 (Boys and Girls): Born between November 12, 2006, and November 11, 2008
Under 20 (Boys and Girls): Born between November 12, 2004, and November 11, 2006
