Sumit Nagal Set to Compete in World Tennis League

India’s top singles player, Sumit Nagal, is set to participate in the upcoming World Tennis League (WTL), which will feature an impressive lineup of global stars.

Among the competitors will be world number five Daniil Medvedev and US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka, as announced by the organizers on Friday.

While it remains unclear which team Nagal, currently ranked 83rd in the world, will join, the tournament is scheduled to take place at the iconic Etihad Arena from December 19 to 22.

The World Tennis League will showcase a remarkable roster, including two Olympic gold medallists and five Grand Slam champions.

Six of the top 12 male players and six of the top 10 female players will also compete, with notable names like world number one Iga Swiatek, reigning Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova, and women’s doubles Olympic gold medallist Jasmine Paolini making her debut.

Returning players include Medvedev, along with world number six Andrey Rublev, who were part of the WTL 2023 title-winning team, the Eagles.

They will be joined by 2024 US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz, world number eight Hubert Hurkacz, and world number nine Casper Ruud.

Fans can look forward to an exciting tournament featuring some of the best talent in tennis.
