After the delay in the certification for Emergency, Kangana Ranaut has to sell her bungalow. Kangana Ranaut has confirmed she will be selling her Pali Hill bungalow located at Bandra, Mumbai because of the delay in the release of her film ‘Emergency.’ Kangana said, ‘she took this decision due to losses she had to face because of a delay in the release of her movie ‘Emergency.’
“Naturally, my film was supposed to be released. I put all my personal property on it. Now that it’s not released, so anyway, that’s what properties are for—for times of crisis.”
Kangana Ranaut Sold Her Pali Hill Bungalow
According to Zapkey, it has been revealed that Kangana sold her Pali Hill property for Rs. 32 crore. She purchased the property back in September 2017 for Rs. 20.7 crore. In December 2022, she took Rs. 27 crore from ICICI Bank on a loan against the property.
The bungalow was built as an office for her production house, Manikarnika Films. In 2020, the same property was under BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation). The same year, BMC demolished some parts of the office, considering it to be illegal construction.
But on September 9, a stay order from Bombay High Court was given to stop the demolition work midway. Kangana filed a case against BMC and demanded Rs. 2 crore for compensation. Although she dropped her demands in May 2023.
Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency Postponed
The ‘Emergency’ release date was postponed due to pending approvals from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is also facing boycotts and ban demands from various people and communities. It was about to be released on September 6.
The film dives into the life of Indira Gandhi. It revolves around the time when she imposed a 21-month emergency period from 1975 to 1977.
A district court in Chandigarh issued a notice to Kangana Ranaut over her controversial film. The former president of the District Bar Association, Advocate Ravinder Singh Bassi, applied and claimed that the actor had tried to degrade the image of Sikhs in the film. And not only the wrong image but also the film is making false allegations against the community.
The court will take further action on December 5. Talking about ‘Emergency’ in the event, Kangana said,
“It is our history that has been intentionally hidden. We are not told about this. Bhale logo ka zamaana nhi hai.”
Speaking further, Kangana said,
“My film is ready to be released. It has received certification from the censor board. 4 historians supervised our films. We have the proper documents. There is nothing wrong with my film. But some people call Bhindranwale a saint, revolutionary, or leader. They threatened via pleas (to ban her film). I have also received threats. Previous governments have declared Khalistanis as terrorists. He was not a saint who was sitting in a temple with an AK47.”
According to further reports, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, who is the co-producer of the film, had approached the Bombay High Court for a censor certificate.
What Is The Update On Emergency?
A petition was filed in the court for which it claimed that the Censor Board had illegally refused the certificate of the film.
To which the High Court said it is unable to direct the CBFC to issue the certificate as it will contradict the MP High Court order. Right now the film is certified with a few cuts, but no new release date has been announced.
